A detailed description of the person's appearance is also indicated on the file. Additional information that can be seen the file includes the significant markings that can be found on the person's body like scars, tattoo and birth marks.

In order to get a copy of a criminal record in the state of Minnesota, one has to know the basic details of the record that is being requested such as the name on the file, crimes and offenses committed and the place and date when the individual has been reported of such crimes. This information has to be indicated on the request form along with the contact details of the one who filed the request. The document is only given or released if the one who requested it is the person himself or an immediate family of the owner of the file, otherwise a special court order has to be provided to gain access to the file. An $8 printing fee has to be paid per copy but this fee does not cover the service charges and other fees.

In Minnesota, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is responsible for managing the criminal records of the state. The said office is where one can get a copy of such document. In case going to the office personally is not possible, a mail request can be sent, but it can take several days before the results of the search can be delivered back to the requesting party.

The development of the Internet has allowed the retrieval of public crime records to be obtained conveniently. Getting the record from the Internet is also fast since the needed information is displayed in just seconds instead of hours or days. Several websites offer to do the search for free but many prefer to pay for the service to get accurate information.
