Ways To Properly Carry It Out

By George Dodson

As we leave home for work, we start to understand that work actually becomes our second home. Some spend a lot more time at work because they quite don't have any other choice. If you're spending a lot of time at work then you'll have greater chances of being stressed instead of course if you have stress relievers at work such as friends. For some, having friends at work is not an important thing however they probably do not know what they are missing.

Should you have a large workload to handle, a friend or someone you can help you with that may come very handy. In addition, friends at work can give you healthy criticisms about your performance thus making you more competitive and more productive. Emotional stress is also something that can be dealt with in the office if you have friends. Lastly, friends in the office as well as on other places can inspire you to do more and to be more. The question remains however - what is the best way to make friends within your place of work? In the case of a newly hired employee looking to make friends in the new environment, here are the suggestions.

First impressions last

A basic technique in getting to know people as well as in making them remember who you are. The moment you are introduced to a new colleague, be sure to give a great good impression. With the great good impression, people will think that you are worth getting interested in and is worth getting to know thus aimed to be friends with.

One essential component of being introduced and having a good first impression is remembering the names or possibly the positions of the person you are introduced to. This will increase your confidence toward communicating with them.

Eat with the group

There is also a great chance for you to make friends during break specially lunch breaks. As soon as you get an opportunity to go with a lunch group do not hesitate as these opportunities will not come very often. Lunch breaks are also the only hours at work where people can discuss on any topic freely and express or do pretty much anything they want. This is a chance for you to talk about yourself and the things that you have in common with your co-workers.

Be more open

Unfortunately, not all people in the work neighborhood will be willing to take you in as a friend. For this, a good amount of open mindedness would be essential. Being open-minded, try to know or find out why you are disliked and thus try to make an effort to reinforce that. Not only will you be able to deal with indifference at work but can make your sense of leadership as well as your ability to deal with negativity radiate.

Do not rush

Time is also essential in making friends. Certainly you can make friends within the day but that should not be your foundation of a 'real' friendship. However, it also shouldn't take a year before you can have a friend at your work place. Making friends happens naturally and when it does it lasts a lifetime.
